The Buckinghamshire Garden Railway Society (BGRS) is a group of friendly folk with 2 distinct types of activity. We all enjoy the excitement of large scale model railways and most of us have a track in the gardens of our homes. We hold “Garden Running Days” where our families can all come together and enjoy convivial conversations, we can run our trains on each others tracks, and round off the afternoon with a barbecue or buffet meal. With sun shining and limitless cups of tea and coffee what could be nicer on a summer afternoon? Running trains on winter evenings is a real pleasure to see the stock and layouts lit up

Our second principal activity (and where you have probably learned of our existence) is our portable representation of a garden railway – The Whiteleaf Light Railway – which we take out to exhibitions or community events. These outings can vary from half day local shows to 3 day exhibitions anywhere in the UK. Whiteleaf can be displayed in many sizes, and themes.

Whichever of these activities might interest you, we are always looking for new members to share both the pleasure and the (sometimes) hard work of our garden railway hobby. Most of us model in G scale, that is narrow gauge outline on 45mm gauge track. But don’t let that put you off if you model in Gauge 0, Gauge 1, or 16mm, or if you haven’t yet taken the plunge.

Do not be fooled by our name! We have members who live in Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Oxfordshire and London as well as members in Buckinghamshire itself. We even have members living much further away, … but that’s another story.
