The Charnwood Forest Railway.

In 2000 I was lucky enough to be allowed to build a layout at Rothley Railway Station on the Great Central Railway. It started out as a small single track oval and as expanded to a large "L" shaped double track with two branch lines, one a rack line with catenary. It is also intended to complete the catenary on the mainlines.

The Railway is open to the public every Saturday and Sunday and Bank Holidays through out the year. We open from 0930 until 1700 BST and 0930 to 1600 GMT. Only high winds and severe frosts curtail running.

.

Together with my two colleagues we can field about 150 locomotives, 200 coaches and approximately 500 wagons covering European (German, Austrian, Swiss and French) and North American (USA and Canada) prototypes. The locos are named after villages in the Charnwood Forest area and are all fitted with full working sound.

The main control system is the Crest Train Engineer but during the winter we use LGB controllers.

If any of the members want to bring along items to run then they are more than welcome.
With regard to the online album please feel free to use any pictures. I can supply captions for them and a full history of the line.
