Association Of Larger Scale Modellers Summer Show.

Rivermead, Reading

Saturday 7th. May 2005

Although this was a multi-scale show there was a lot to interest us G Scaler's. The G scale Society was represented by the Thames Valley Group (you can usually hear their sound units before you can see them).

One hall was filled with a wide variety of stands to really get your teeth into from lettering to tools etc. There were also the show regulars Bay Models and Chalk Garden Rail. They always seem to have something to catch the eye. The bring and buy stand was regularly three deep with buyers and the G scale items seemed to go fairly quickly.

The second hall contained the layouts. The best selection I have seen this year. My favourite was Avondown Parade based on a seafront. I could almost smell the sea!

All in all a well balanced show with something for everyone, including several demonstrations of skill and new technology.

There was plenty of room to see everything especially the layouts.

Although there was a parking charge in operation a discount was given to show visitors. Keen gardeners could also pick up bedding plants from a sales stand in the car park.

I took my wife along and when asked at the door if we were related? I told them only by marriage. The entrance charge was five pounds for the both of us. Which I think was good value.

This show was in my hometown but next week its full steam ahead to Merstham. I still have a few pennies left for a bargain!
