Now that I am able to get my
breath back and start to restore my bank balance after the round
of shows there have been lately. I thought it was time for a
ramble.
With the lighter evenings and
better weather it is good to be able to get out and tidy up the
garden, clear the blossom, clean the track and actually run
trains. I seem to be at that stage with my layout when I keep
fiddling about and not actually achieving anything of any merit.
I
have just completed The Welsh Cottages from
British
Outline Buildings
and I am pleased with the result. I am also completing one of
George
Turner’s
super barges as a bit of a novelty item. I do like to make
scenes up on my railway rather than just have the basic track
and leave it that. My next move is to scratch build my own
buildings using materials from Precision Products (supplied by
I & G Steam). I am a bit cack handed but nothing ventured
nothing gained.
However what my railway is sadly
lacking is some good signalling
So
I was interested in the recent news items on the G scale Mad
page about them from
Martin’s
Models
and
Roger Murray.
I did have some colour light ones
from Busch once( I did buy them cheaper as they needed repair)
but my old dog (sadly no longer with me), the cat and my own
size tens meant they were constantly in need of repair and
trying to get replacement bulbs for them was very hit and miss.
Having a small garden does mean
that I have to walk over the railway track frequently so I am
really looking for something a bit stronger. I run my trains
using the MTS system and would ideally like to power them from
the track and use the LGB supplementary switch on the points to
change them automatically, as I already have a supply of these
from my Train Engineer days
I wanted colour light signals
because I already have all my buildings lit and I am hoping to
light my carriages later this year. With luck I could be in a
position to rival Blackpool illuminations.
So in the best of Blue Peter
traditions here is your chance to share your talents or
disasters and tell me about the ones you made or bought earlier
via the
G Scale Mad
Forum..
