Large Scale Model Rail Show
Warwickshire Exhibition Centre
16th – 17th
April 2005
The Centre was easy to get to by
car; public transport is not readily available. Parking was free
and plentiful but someone could have taken the trouble to cut
the grass!
Entrance fee was £6.50 (advance
tickets were cheaper) and the show guide given out was last
years. Considering this was organised by a professional company
Meridienne Exhibitions this was a shaky start. I thought that
some of the stands seemed cramped preventing some exhibitors
from showing their full ranges. Although I accept that a
compromise has to be made to get all the stallholders and
layouts into a limited space.

However it was the exhibitors
that made this show worthwhile.
This was a show for the scratch
builder. There were lots of stands with tools and all the
necessary accessories to build everything from an engine to a
house and paint it. I even managed to buy a canal barge kit! As
usual all the help and advice was freely given.
This was a multi scale show but
there was a strong G scale presence and some excellent layouts.
It was good to see some of live steam and some vintage tinplate
in action.

Full marks to the catering staff
although they were very busy at times they all seemed helpful
and friendly and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal.
Next years show is scheduled for
8th/9th. Of April 2006
